Kurt W. Rathjen, M.D.

Dr. Rathjen specializes in hip and knee disorders. He performs a large volume of hip and knee replacements, hip resurfacing, arthroscopic surgery, and knee ligament surgery at Methodist Hospital for Surgery and Baylor University Medical Center. He completed his residency at UT Southwestern and received fellowship training at Johns Hopkins University. Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic surgery, he is a member of numerous medical organizations. Dr. Rathjen was chosen as one of the first surgeons in the US to train and perform the Birmingham Hip resurfacing procedure. This is a bone conserving alternative to conventional total hip replacements for younger, active patients. Dr. Rathjen has one of the highest volume cases completed of Birmingham Hip Resurfacing since its FDA release in June 2006. Dr. Rathjen has been selected as one of the “Best Doctors” in Dallas by D Magazine since 2001; a Texas Monthly “Super Doctor” since 2004; a “Best Doctors in America” and serves as an expert consultant.


 Elizabeth McMurry M.S.N., R.N., F.N.P., O.N.C.

Elizabeth obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing from Tarrant County Junior College in 1975. She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1981 and her Master of Science Degree in Nursing from Baylor University in 2002. She is a certified Orthopaedic nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner. Before returning to school to further her degree, she was the Orthopaedic Program Manager at Baylor University Medical Center. In this position, she was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Total Joint Class. She has been working with total knee and hip replacement patients for decades. Her hobbies include being in the outdoors, exercising and putting together family scrapbooks.

Jennifer Arias, PA-C

Jennifer obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from Eastern New Mexico University in 2002.  She then received a Masters in Medical Science and Bachelors in Physician Assistant studies from Nova Southeastern University in Naples Florida in 2007.  She was an athletic trainer in high school and college for several different sports.  She worked at Lubbock Sports Medicine Associates for 2 years before going to PA school.  During her PA school she did a fellowship in the musculoskeletal department at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN.  She worked in Naples at Gulf Coast Spine & Orthopedic Institute for a year before moving to Dallas to continue her career in orthopedics.  Her hobbies include reading, spending time with friends and family, especially her little nieces.
